Our mission is to help refugees suffering from war, ethnic cleansing, and genocide in refbugeemissionaries cop.inc Africa. Sub-Saharan Africa alone hosts 26% of the global refugee population. Out of this percentage, only 18 million refugees are under concern of the UNHCR. The rest of the population is either handled by other smaller organizations or left to take care of itself. In Uganda, statistics reveal that the country has the largest refugee population, as it accommodates 1.4 million refugees as of 2020. Thus, there is great demand for physical, spiritual and psychological assistance.
The majority, if not all, of the refugees in Africa are a product of the civil wars that have been ongoing in various countries for decades. For instance, the Congo region has experienced internal conflicts since 1996. Many of the refugees flee to the camps in Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, and Malawi, among others. As an outcome, our organization is targeting such camps because we know that there is a need. In Malawi, for example, the government ordered all the integrated refugees to relocate to the Dzaleka Refugee camp, putting a strain on the already overcrowded camp. Lending a hand from a physical and spiritual perspective will play a role in helping these weary souls.
Other than external outreach, we have an internal ministry where we target children and single women who have been widowed by outcomes of civil wars and conflicts. We offer counselling services to women and children who have experience war and felt its impact, as a way of helping them cope both physically and spiritually.
